Affinity groups form the foundation of mass mobilizations within Extinction Rebellion DC.

These groups of 5-20 people share a common interest, get to know each other before actions, and then take the streets together. They form discrete units during our disruptions so that we can be tactically flexible. And they ensure that participants in our actions stay safe.

A list of our current affinity groups can be found here: https://xrdc.org/joinag

Do you have an idea or interest you'd like to see as part of our next mass disruption, or a group of people that is ready to join XRDC in the streets? Are you already in an affinity group but unclear about how things are working or what can be better? Or are you just curious to hear what these affinity groups are all about?

Join us at the Southeast Neighborhood Library on Tuesday, December 17 at 7pm for a workshop on affinity groups within XRDC. We'll cover the basic philosophy behind affinity groups, how they're integrated into XRDC, and how you can create, revitalize, or otherwise make an XRDC affinity group kick ass.

Affinity groups are a crucial part of our organizing work and action strategy. They're also a critical way for us to grow our collective power. We need as many people sorted into as many affinity groups as possible before our next mass action.

Whether you're new to XR or you've been to every action, whether you're in an affinity group already or not, if you want to help XR realize its full potential, you should check out this workshop!
