A climate bomb is ticking in Minnesota.

Enbridge, one of the dirtiest corporations on earth, is building a massive new pipeline, Line 3, that will transport one billion barrels of crude oil per day from the Tar Sands in Canada down through the heart of America.

Line 3, which will lock in decades of carbon emissions, poses a direct threat to billions of people all over the world.

The toxic pipeline is a direct threat to frontline indigenous communities and the millions of people who depend on the rivers and lakes for clean drinking water. A toxic oil spill near the Great Lakes, which contain over three quarters of North America’s available freshwater, would devastate our nation’s water supply. 

Line 3 is the same as building 50 new coal fired power plants. It is the same as putting 38 million more cars on our roads. It will prop up the dying fossil fuel industry for decades and lock in catastrophic emissions. We are already in a climate emergency. We face climate fires, droughts, and mass extinction. We simply cannot afford Line 3.

A livable future depends on shutting down the entire toxic fossil fuel industry. And that means ending Line 3. XRDC is joining the nationwide campaign to stop the pipeline.

Targets and demands:

Our campaign to stop Line 3 includes a series of disruptive actions targeting the climate criminals funding and enabling the pipeline. 

We demand that:

Enbridge end construction of the pipeline and repair the harm it has already done to people and the environment. Enbridge is trying to build Line 3 before regulatory agencies and governments can stop it. It is destroying the living world out of sheer greed.

Wells Fargo immediately pull financing for the pipeline. Wells Fargo has invested $198 billion in fossil fuels since the Paris agreement  - that’s more than the GDP of New Zealand. Now it’s paying for Enbridge to build its toxic oil pipeline. 

Bank of America immediately pull financing for the pipeline. Bank of America is the world’s biggest funder of fracked gas. And it’s paying for Enbridge to build one of the world’s deadliest oil pipelines. 

The government revoke the presidential permit for Line 3. President Biden has the power to end Enridge’s dreams of detonating a climate bomb during a global emergency. We demand the government honors the Treaties, revokes the presidential permit for Line 3, declares a Climate Emergency.
